[ENG] Aqua Tofana are a dynamic four piece band releasing their debut album Dead & Famous on May 7th 2021 via their own label Ballpark Music. “The album title came from a conversation we were having when we realised we would both be turning 27 during lockdown”, vocalist Matt Kersey said. “I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a lot of time on self-reflection during this period, and used the writing process to explore a lot of the feelings I think many of us encounter day-to-day, but are unable to adequately deal with because of the time pressures inherent in modern life.” [ITA] Gli Aqua Tofana sono un quartetto inglese il cui album di debutto Dead & Famous è in uscita il 7 maggio 2021 per l’etichetta di loro creazione, Ballpark Music. [ENG] Aqua Tofana are a four piece band founded by guitarist Cameron Whyte and vocalist Matt Kersey, the two friends wanted to explore and traverse the boundaries of traditional genre while staying rooted in their shared love of fuzzy guitar music which brought them together. The pair were later joined by good friends Brad Laming (multi-instrumentalist) and Harry Wakefield (drums) to expand the group.While writing Dead & Famous, Aqua Tofana decided to eschew the traditional approach of EPs and instead introduce the world to their music through a full album. The band’s post-genre approach flourishes in this setting, seamlessly transitioning from heavy grunge inspired riffs on Red Brick Walls to the soft, spacy, and clean tones of Growing Pains, all while maintaining their distinct identity.
Written, recorded, and self-produced with the assistance of Laming in Whyte and Kersey’s respective homes during recent lockdowns, the lyrical content reflects themes of isolation, and a frustration with how societal norms dictate and frame our individual interactions.

[ITA] Gli Aqua Tofana sono un quartetto fondato dal chitarrista Cameron Whyte e dal cantante Matt Kersey con l’intenzione di esplorare e superare le barriere ed etichette tradizionali di un genere musicale pur restando fedeli alla passione per le chitarre distorte che li accomuna. La band è successivamente diventata un quartetto con l’arrivo del polistrumentista Brad Laming e il batterista Harry Wakefield.Durante il processo di scrittura di Dead & Famous, gli Aqua Tofana hanno deciso di saltare il tradizionale EP di debutto e dedicarsi interamente ad un debut album che potesse risaltare al meglio l’approccio “post-genere” della band, che passa dai riff robusti di stampo grunge di Red Brick Walls ai toni limpidi e delicati di Growing Pain pur mantendendo sempre la propria identità.
Scritto, registrato e autoprodotto – in casa e nel corso di vari lockdown – da Whyte e Kersey con l’aiuto di Laming, l’album esplora temi come l’isolamento e la frustrazione verso le norme imposte dalla società sulle relazioni interpersonali.
