VIAGGI MUSICALI | Intervista agli Aiming for Enrike [ITA-ENG]

Nella vita di un musicista il viaggio è di certo una componente essenziale. Chilometri su chilometri, giornate intere passate in furgone, nottate insonni, pasti al limite della decenza, orde di automobilisti impazziti a rallentare viaggi lunghissimi e poi infine il palco, l’energia, il sudore, i sorrisi, il calore del pubblico e tanta voglia di rimettersi in viaggio per suonare ancora.
E se il viaggio non fosse solo questo? Se il vero viaggio fosse l’intera esperienza musicale? Abbiamo chiesto ai musicisti di immaginare la loro vita a contatto con la musica come un lungo cammino che stanno in realtà ancora percorrendo. Ecco cosa ci hanno risposto.

In the life of a musician, the journey is certainly an essential component. Kilometers after kilometers, whole days spent in the van, sleepless nights, meals to the limit of decency, hordes of crazy drivers to slow down long travels and finally the stage, the energy, the sweat, the smiles, the warmth of the audience and the huge aim to continue the journey and play again. What if the trip was not just that? What if the real journey was the complete musical experience? We asked the musicians to imagine their life in contact with music like a long way that they are still going along. Here you are what they said.

Siamo gli Aiming for Enrike. Siamo un duo chitarra e batteria con Tobias Ørnes Andersen alla batteria e Simen Folstad Nilsen alla chitarra. Al momento siamo il gruppo di apertura per il tour europeo di uno dei nostri gruppi preferiti, Jaga Jazzist. Stiamo suonando in Italia, Svizzera e Germania.

We are Aiming for Enrike. We are a guitar and drum duo with Tobias Ørnes Andersen on drums and Simen Følstad Nilsen on guitar. We are currently on a European tour opening for one of our all time favorite bands, Jaga Jazzist. We are playing shows in Italy, Switzerland and Germany.

Ci piace ascoltare un sacco di cose diverse. We like to listen to a lot of different stuff. Le cose da dimenticare a casa.
Things to forget at home.

A parte gli strumenti e il merch abbiamo portato solo lo stretto necessario, come la biancheria intima, il dentifricio, un libro, i computer portatili e le cuffie. Qualunque cosa possa stare in uno zaino. Non c’è bisogno di portare tanta roba con sé in un viaggio come questo.

Aside from our instruments and our merch we only brought the bare necessities like underwear, toothpaste, a book, our laptops and our headphones. Whatever you can fit in a backpack. You don’ t really need to bring much personal stuff on a trip like this.

Places and meetings that made the journey more interesting.

Credo che ogni posto sia speciale in qualche modo. Siamo stati a New York per una settimana quest’estate. Fatto un concerto che è stato assolutamente incredibile. È stato un viaggio davvero stimolante. Una città così cool, con una bella atmosfera, e un sacco di cose fighe in giro. Ottimo cibo!

Every place is special in some kind of way i guess. We where in New York for a week this summer. Played a gig, which was totally amazing. That was a really inspiring trip. Such a cool city, with a great vibe, and lots a good cool things going on. Great food!

Deviazioni di percorso. Ce ne sono state? Come sono state affrontate?
Detours. There have they been? How did you solve them?

Questo tour non ha ancora avuto deviazioni, e probabilmente è così da quando siamo in viaggio con un gruppo di persone molto professionali che hanno fatto questo molte volte in passato. La settimana scorsa abbiamo suonato a Bergen, Norvegia. Durante la seconda canzone Simen ha rotto una corda e l’ha cambiata, mentre Tobias ha suonato un assolo di batteria fino a quando la chitarra non era pronta a suonare di nuovo. Lo spettacolo è andato avanti senza interruzioni, il che è stato piuttosto figo.

This tour has had no detours yet, and it will probably stay that way since we are traveling with a very professional bunch of people who have done this many times before. Last week we played a show in Bergen, Norway. On the second song Simen broke a string and changed it while Tobias played a drum solo until the guitar was ready to go again. The show went on uninterrupted which was pretty cool.

I nostri migliori compagni di viaggio sono stati finora i Jaga Jazzist. Sono un grande gruppo di persone e una band fenomenale. Sono tra le poche band norvegesi che hanno spianato la strada per i giovani gruppi strumentali come noi. Siamo loro molto grati per aver deciso di portarci in tour con loro.

Our best traveling companions so far have been Jaga Jazzist. They are a great bunch of people and a fenomenal band. They are among the few norwegian bands that have paved the way for younger instrumental bands like us. We are very greatful that they have decided to take us with them on tour.

Mete sognate, ma non ancora raggiunte.
Dreamed destinations, but not achieved yet.

Una meta sognata per noi è il Giappone. Lo abbiamo sempre ritenuto il Paese ideale per il nostro tipo di musica. La buona notizia è che ci andremo in tour a marzo 2017, quindi non ne vediamo davvero l’ora.

A dream destination for us is Japan. We have always considered it to be the perfect country for our type of music. The good news is that we are going on a tour there in march 2017, so we are really looking forward to that.

Credo che scriverei ai miei amici e alla mia famiglia. Non ho alcun nemico. Se ne avessi, perché scrivergli? Scriverei che stiamo andando bene. Che siamo sani e felici. Che ci stiamo divertendo. Che stiamo vivendo il sogno!

I think i would have written my friends and family. I dont have any enemies. If i had, why write them? I would have written that we are doing very well. Staying happy and healthy. Having fun. Living the dream!
